SKYSCRAPERS

This sculpture began as an exploreation of form and negative space..

I would categorize this sculpture as Contemporary Industrial Abstraction, drawing from Constructivist principles, prioritizing the honesty of steel and the purity of geometric form. At a formidable scale of eight feet in height, the sculpture initially confronts the viewer with the aggressive, overlapping planes of a modern metropolis: tall buildings and confined spaces. At close inspection, the acute angles and heavy steel plates create a sense of 'tectonic density'—capturing the verticality and confined energy of city skyscrapers. It represents the fast-paced, industrial chapter of one’s life: structured, massive, and imposing.

However, as one moves away from the piece, a visual transformation occurs. The jagged, 'crowded' lines begin to harmonize into a rhythmic silhouette of mountain ranges and forest canopies. This shift on the horizon serves as a profound metaphor for your own migration: leaving behind the rigid confines of the urban grid for the soft, expansive peace of a rural retreat. Here, among the 'peaks' of the sculpture and the natural river stones at its base, the industrial weight of the past gives way to the enduring stillness of the landscape. It is a monument to the transition from the labor of the city to the serenity of retirement."
